Étienne Jardin obtained a Ph.D. in history from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris). His reserch concerns musical life in France from the end of the eighteenth century to the early twentieth. Co-founder and director of publication for the eletronic journal Transposition. Musique et sciences sociales (2010), he is now in charge of publications and conferences for the Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de musique romantique française (Venice). He is the author of several articles on concert, opera and conservatories in France, and has edited the books Music and War in Europe from French Revolution to World War I (Brepols, 2016), Archives du concert (with P. Taïeb, Actes sud / Palazzetto Bru Zane, 2015) and Quatre siècles d’édition musicale (with J. Élart and P. Taïeb, Peter Lang, 2014). Moreover, he has published with Fanny Gribenski the new annotated edition of Ce que dit la musique by Hermione Quinet (Actes sud / Palazzetto Bru Zane, 2016).
