Marita Fornaro Bordolli has a B.A. in Musicology (1986), in Anthropological Sciences (1978), and in Historical Sciences (1978) from the University of the Republic of Uruguay. She obtained a Master’s in Music (2000) and Anthropology (1999) from the University of Salamanca, Spain. Between 2008 and 2012 she was Director of the University School of Music, University of the Republic, Uruguay. Her research includes music, popular culture, and theatres in Uruguay, Brazil, Cuba, Spain, and Portugal. Currently she is Co-ordinator of the Department of Musicology of the University School of Music and of the Research Centre on Musical and Scenic Arts, University of the Republic, Uruguay. Between 2010 and 2012 she was President of the IASPM.
